Even global superstar John Legend couldn’t pass by one of the station’s popular public pianos without trying it out. Fresh off the Eurostar train from Paris, the multi award-winning American artist entertained station visitors with an off-the-cuff performance on his way through the station, giving delighted onlookers a little taste of what to expect from his European ‘Darkness and Light’ tour announced earlier this week.
John Legend surprised passers-by when he walked out of Eurostar arrivals, went straight to the Yamaha piano donated by Sir Elton John in 2016, sat down and began to play. After treating onlookers to a selection of songs, the critically-acclaimed artist even posed for photos before continuing his journey.
St Pancras’ three public pianos are a hugely popular part of the station with hundreds of visitors sharing their personal performances on social media over the years. Famous faces including Elton John, Laura Mvula and Bill Bailey have also delighted visitors with their own spontaneous showcases while members of the public and organisations have continued to generously donate pianos to the station in the hope of inspiring the stars of tomorrow.
Two lucky winners will also win tickets to a tour date of their choice before tickets go on sale on Friday. Head to St Pancras International’s Facebook and Twitter pages to see the performance for yourself and enter (closing date 6pm 30.03.17).
Tickets to John Legend’s European tour go on sale at 9am, Friday 31st March 2017 at www.livenation.co.uk
