Working from home wellness tips

With many of us working from home, St. Pancras' health and wellness brand, Neal's Yard Remedies give us a few simple tips to maintaining a happy and healthy home working environment.

1.   Work by a window

When your eyes feel tired from staring at your screen, you can refocus and look at something in the distance - something from nature is best! When Neal's Yard Remedies built their eco factory, it was designed to ensure every desk had a view to the fields and their herb gardens.

Okay, you may not live somewhere that overlooks picturesque countryside, however it's still important to give your eyes a rest from the laptop.

2.   Get up regularly

Every hour you should get up and have a walk around, go up the stairs, touch your toes and do some stretches and twists, anything to get the blood flowing.

3.   When working at a desk

When working at a desk, try and sit with your feet flat on the floor, spaced hip-width apart and try not to slump. This may help support your circulation as sitting crossed-legged stops the blood flowing efficiently to the pelvis.

4.   Wear Loose Clothing

NYR suggest wearing loose clothing as this will help reduce the risk of restricting blood flow around the pelvis when sat down for longer periods.

5.   Work ergonomically

Make sure the screen you're working from is at eye level. Your eyes should look slightly downward when viewing the middle of the screen. Position the monitor at least 20 inches (51cm) from your eyes - about an arm's length distance.

6.   Take a break and boost your feel-good factor

If the sun is shining, pop outside to boost your vitamin D and help support your natural immunity. If you're having to self-isolate, make sure you take some time to have a break and support your wellbeing with a delicious cup of tea!
