St Pancras today already has a wealth of amenities in the local area.

Within easy walking distance of the station are the British Library and The Wellcome Collection, as well as the Shaw Theatre, The Scala Cinema, Dickens Museum, Foundling Museum, Renoir Cinema and Cockpit Arts.

Open 7 days a week and free to the public the British Library holds over 13 million books, 920,000 journal and newspaper titles, 57 million patents and 3 million sound recordings. To consult books in the Reading Rooms you must have a Reader's Pass. Everyone is welcome at their exhibition galleries, bookshop, restaurant and cafe; There is a lively events programme, some of them free and the building contains many works of art by artists such as Antony Gormley, Bill Woodrow and Eduardo Paolozzi.

The British Museum

The British Museum holds in trust for the nation and the world a collection of art and antiquities from ancient and living cultures.

Housed in one of Britain's architectural landmarks, the collection is one of the finest in existence, spanning two million years of human history. The Museum was based on the practical principle that the collection should be put to public use and be freely accessible.

 

Kings Place

Designed by celebrated architects Dixon-Jones, Kings Place is a new arts centre located just a few minutes walk from Kings Cross station. Kings Place has a lot to offer its visitors by bringing together under one roof a creative hub, a dining venue, a conference and events centre, and office complex.

The Wellcome Collection is a unique mix of galleries, events, and meeting, reading and eating places where you can consider what it means to be human. This impressive building in central London houses three exhibitions, the world-famous Wellcome Library, a cafe, bookshop, conference centre and members' club.

Business Support

To support the King's Cross & St Pancras Redevelopment, Camden Council (with sponsorship from the regenerative developers) have created the King's Cross Business forum to support old and new businesses and communities in the surrounding area. To date, over 900 businesses have been connected through its activities.

 

Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB)

The RNIB are the UK's leading charity offering information, support and advice to over two million people with sight loss.  Their pioneering work helps anyone with a sight problem - not just with braille and Talking Books, but with imaginative and practical solutions to everyday challenges.

Their projects such as Talk and Support and Parents' Place make a difference to people's lives. And they campaign to eliminate avoidable sight loss and support research into the causes and latest treatments of eye disease.
